About Me

My photo
Barry Heimlich
Hollywood, Florida, United States
I am a climate policy researcher and research affiliate at the Center for Environmental Studies at Florida Atlantic University, where I have conducted important research on climate change adaptation policy for coastal Florida and on the effects of sea level rise and other climate change impacts on SE Florida's water infrastructure. I am founder and president of the Florida Climate Imperative, which advises on energy and climate issues. I am a charter member of Broward County's Climate Change Task Force, and I sit on the Technical Advisory Committee of Broward County's Water Adisory Committee. I was president of the South Florida Audubon Society and spearheaded its global warming initiative that resulted in 23 Broward city mayors signing onto the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. I am a retired corporate executive from the pharmaceutical and petroleum industries, and entrepreneur with a master's degree in chemical engineering from the U. of Michigan.
